Flower Essences
“These plants are there to extend a helping hand to man in those dark hours of forgetfulness, when he loses sight of divinity, and allows the cloud of fear or pain to obscure his vision.” – Edward Bach
Flower essences offer a vibrational therapy that help in addressing the mental, emotional, and spiritual imbalances that may contribute to physical disturbances in our lives. They are similar to homeopathy, acupuncture, and therapeutic touch. According to recent research, it has been discovered that water possesses memory; the process of creating flower essences involves infusing the unique energetic imprint of a flower into water and then stabilizing it. This method is based on the belief that each flower carries its own specific healing properties in the form of vibrational frequencies. Each flower essence possesses a unique ‘character’ and a set of lessons to guide us through life. Some remedies take effect instantly, while others may require time to yield results. It is believed that while using these essences, certain negative emotions may surface, signifying a part of the healing process. It is important to address and release these emotions in order to progress effectively.
You may administer around 3-5 drops of the flower remedies by placing it under your tongue or diluting it in a small amount of water before consumption. Typically, this is done 3 to 4 times a day, although it can be taken more frequently, even as often as every 15 to 30 minutes, during acute emotional episodes.
Throughout history, flower remedies have been utilized by various civilizations, including the Ancient Egyptians, Sumerians, and Chinese, as well as indigenous peoples like the Native Americans and the Australian Aboriginals. One of the earliest recorded European uses of flower essences dates back to the twelfth century, when Abbess Hildegard von Bingen would cover flowers with muslin sheets at night to collect their dew. This dew-infused water was then utilized to address emotional imbalances in individuals by wrapping them in the cloth.
BACH FLOWER REMEDIES
“…those beautiful remedies, which have been Divinely enriched with healing powers, will be administered, to open up those channels to admit more of the light of the Soul, that the patient may be flooded with healing virtue. They cure not by attacking disease, but by flooding our bodies with the beautiful vibrations of our Higher Nature, in the presence of which disease melts as snow in the sunshine.” – Edward Bach
Between 1908 and 1930, Dr. Edward Bach created a system of flower essences called the Bach Flower Remedies. Edward Bach, a physician and homeopath, firmly believed that emotional wellness was crucial for maintaining overall good health. Dr. Bach wholeheartedly embraced the vital importance of emotional healing in preserving overall well-being. He identified 38 flower essences, each extracted from a unique wild flower, plant, or tree, and linked them to a specific emotion. His vision was that this comprehensive system, harnessing the positive potential of the plants, could provide a holistic approach to achieving emotional equilibrium. The system of Bach flower remedies do a lot to move and heal emotions. THE MOTHER, SRI AUROBINDO ASHRAM
The Mother, spiritual guide and creator of Auroville (Pondicherry, India), spent quite some time contemplating and meditating on the essential nature of different flowers and trees, assigning them names to represent their deeper significance. While Mother often mentioned Nature as an important portal into understanding the spiritual realm, she especially saw flowers as representing Nature’s aspiration for the Divine. During the Mother’s life, it became common for disciples to bring her a flower for each meeting. After receiving a flower, she would often give one back that carried a message for whoever visited her. She often said, “Since flowers are the manifestation of the psychic in the vegetal kingdom, love of flowers would mean that one is drawn by the psychic vibration and consequently by the psychic in one’s own self. When you are receptive to the psychic vibration, that puts you in a more intimate contact with the psychic in your own self. When I give flowers, it is as an answer to the aspiration coming from the very depths of your being. It is a need or an aspiration, it depends upon the person. It may fill a void or else give you the impetus to progress, or it may help you find inner harmony in order to establish peace.”
Some flowers and the significance The Mother gave to them:
Hibiscus- Dynamic Power; “Indispensable for progress”
